At Life Care, we’re excited to announce important changes to the names of our First Aid courses. These updates are part of a national initiative driven by Toitū te Waiora, the Workforce Development Council responsible for first aid training across New Zealand. The goal? To create consistency and clarity across the country, making it easier for you to identify the right course, regardless of the training provider you choose.
Here’s a breakdown of the changes:
- Advanced Work-based First Aid Training is now known as the New Zealand First Aid Certificate. This course offers comprehensive first aid skills and meets the needs of workplaces with more complex risk environments (Unit Standards 6400, 6401, 6402).
- Refresher First Aid Training is now called the First Aid Revalidation Certificate. This course is designed to refresh the skills of those who have already completed first aid training and need to renew their certification (Unit Standards 6401, 6402).
- First Responder First Aid Training has been renamed the Foundation First Aid Certificate. This course is ideal for people who are new to First Aid, it covers the essential first-aid skills required in both workplace and community settings (Unit Standards 6401, 6402).
Why are these changes important? These updates apply to all first aid training providers across New Zealand, ensuring that wherever you go, you’ll find the same course names and know exactly which level of training you’re signing up for. It’s a step towards greater consistency, making it easier for businesses and individuals to choose the right first aid course without confusion.
